Personal style shines at ComplexCon event

Personal style shines at ComplexCon event - personal style
ComplexCon event featured a range of outfits in 2026.

At ComplexCon 2026, personal style was the biggest fashion trend, with attendees showcasing their unique takes on various styles. The event featured a range of outfits, from simple fits with personal touches to DIY creations and statement pieces like funky hats and neon hair dye.

One notable trend was the use of hats as a multi-styled accessory, with designers like Doctor Garmentz showcasing their own creations, such as the Hikage Tie Hat.

Funky Hats and Neon Hair Dye

A dad cap with wings or a scarf attached opened the floor for a multi-styled accessory. For example, Doctor Garmentz, who displayed his brand, Organic Garmentz, with his own personal campground at his ComplexCon booth, sported a staple item of his, called the Hikage Tie Hat, which features a structured bill and attached scarf with multiple tie options for custom styling. While Tai, a friend and model for the brand, wore hers tilted halfway off her head, giving her coordinated look an effortless, offbeat finish. Irma Universo of Miami’s ultra-femme, buzzy label America Universo, wore a scarf hat as well that peaked perfectly from her big hair and connected with the asymmetric ties of her shirt.

Sometimes, the hair is the outfit. The hair color you choose is a sneak peek into who you are. Whether it’s your whole head, peek-a-boo highlights, or a calico combination, a simple fit and a fun hair color is a statement. While skateboarder Ontrell, also known as FilthyPond, shredded on ComplexCon’s indoor skate park, the first thing people noticed, besides his amazing athleticism, was his neon-green mohawk. Although his outfit was curated for the functionality of skating that day, it wasn’t any less dazzling, and the matching eyebrows were the icing on the cake.

The all-black fit, raised by the neon green mohawk easily made him one of the coolest guys at ComplexCon. Savan, who debuted his brand at the event, walked around the grounds with the brand’s flag to encourage goers to check it out, but his hair really did the talking. Sporting a gray, athletic set on its own may not have turned heads; however, his neon pink hair dye suddenly makes him look like so much fun. It’s easy to conclude that in order to be fashionable or trendy, you need expensive or gaudy pieces, however, just about any outfit, when styled with a loud hair color will give you so much personality.

The beauty of personal style lies in its ability to make even the simplest outfit tell a story when the details feel intentional. Event-goer Helena, for example, styled a classic tank-and-jeans combination by stacking her tanks, tying a McQueen scarf around her waist, and placing shades on her head, resulting in an effortless yet considered look.

Simple Fits and DIY Creations

Designer Heron Preston, who collaborated with Formula E for his booth, embodied this philosophy, wearing jeans, a simple logo top, and sporty shades that pulled from racing and utility influences. His look showed that the best clothes are those that can be worn every day, and that wearability is key.

Teen Vogue caught up with 13-year-old designer Leaf Armm, aka DesignsbyLeaf, who hand-paints existing bags, skateboard decks, and more. He won a booth at ComplexCon after penning a handwritten letter to Complex about his love of design and debuted his collaborations with designers Kidsuper and Slawn. Armm’s work showcased the DIY spirit that was present throughout the event, with attendees and designers alike experimenting with unique and personalized creations.

As Armm worked on distressing a tee for a fan, he shared his philosophy on design, saying, “If you love what you’re doing, you’re gonna do good, if you have passion for it.” This mindset was reflected in the work of other designers, such as Min of Chinese brand Hu Die Gong Zhu and her friend CK, who brought plenty of personality to their looks with custom sashes and a cutout top.

Min’s approach to styling was centered around the idea that there is never too much, only not enough, and that the key to making a look truly personal is to add one’s own unique touches.

Camo print was another style staple that took on new life with each person, making it one of the most steady and customizable trends. Jorja Douglas of FLO, was on the way out after enjoying the convention, and quickly served with her fellow group members, Stella and Renée in low-rise, camo, skinny jeans. While ComplexCon enthusiast Kiana sported a camo hat to go with her matching dress at the LAAMS installation.
